I guess you have a very nice alsa-chaos.

At first, please try to uninstall the new alsa version if an uninstall-script exists.

If this doesn't work, try to uninstall the alsa packages

rpm -qa | grep alsa

shows.
I don't know if this will work.

If both ideas fail ... I don't know what to do.

I didn`t find any script. I have went to the /usr/alsa where i install alsa and i have

make clean

and then i deleted all. I didn`t find any alternative to uninstall. and then...

yes the

alsaconf

work just fine but still no sound! But i don`t understant why doesn`t alsa 1.0.14rc3 install corectly? When i use

rpm -qa | grep alsa

it show me

alsa-devel-1.0.13-22
alsa-1.0.13-22
asterisk-alsa-1.2.13-21
java-1_5_0-sun-alsa-1.5.0_update10-2.1

that i didn`t install 1.0.14rc3. I installed step by stpep like in Advanced Linux Sound Architecture - Sound Blaster Live 7.1. ca0106

Maybe if i get the corect install the sound will work!

It's not very surprising, that rpm shows you alsaversion 13-22.

rpm only "knows" the installed rpm packages, but you have installed rc3 with make/make install.

I guess your problem is the chaos between the two alsa-versions.

The only way to get a real clean configuration is - in my eyes - a new install of your SuSE.

I was thinking compile a new kernel for example 2.6.21 because i saw it that it come with some new things in alsa LinuxChanges - KernelNewbies Wiki
and then installing the new alsa 1.0.14rc3. Reinstalling the suse i don`t think it`s a good ideea. It wont work, and if i try to install 1.0.14rc3 i`ll get the same thing. Do you know another method to install alsa? or to update the curent alsa to 1.0.14rc3?
