Hi Leute,

bin seit Neustem der stolze Besitzer eines Logitech Z-5450 5.1 Surround Soundsystems.
Allerdings schaff ich es nicht unter Suse (10.1 x64 und KDE 3.5.5) 5.1 zum laufen zu bringen. Es werden bei mir nur der vordere linke & der vordere rechte Lautsprecher benutzt ( sowohl bei Amarok, MPlayer, vlc etc. als auch bei "speaker-test -c6"). Aus der Center-Box, dem Subwoofer und den beiden Rearboxen kommt nichts! Unter Windows funktioniert alles wunderbar, daraus schließe ich, dass alles korrekt angeschlossen ist, und irgendwas mit der Software/Treiber nicht stimmt.

Als Soundserver nutze ich Alsa:

Hab im Alsamixer auf 6Channels gestellt.

Meine Soundkarte wird unter YAST als K8N4-E erkannt. Das ist das ASUS Mainboard A8N-E (also Onboard Sound). Verbunden ist es über diese drei Stecker (sehen so aus wie Stereo Kabel).

Also ich eine Datei ~/.openalrc mit dem Inhalt aus dem Thread erstellt und anschließend openal installiert ("apt-get install openal"). Allerdings hat sich jetzt nichts verändert.... speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6 liefert immer noch das selbe Ergebnis. Amarok trotz Surround 5.1 Einstellung spricht auch nur die vorderen beiden Boxen an.... Muss ich noch irgendwas machen, um OpenAL zu benutzen? Oder hat Apt das schon automatisch für mich gemacht....

Na, das finde ich doch auch sehr vernünftig von Amarok, weil auf Dolby getunte Stereo Sounds einfach furchtbar sind ... *hust*. Aber ok, darum gehts ja nicht, also zur Sache.

Also ich habe selbst kein Surround-System, daher weiß ich nicht so recht weiter.
Die Einstellungen Deines Mixers sehen eigentlich recht vernünftig aus, denke ich.

Ideen oder Ansätze sollten für Dich sein:

    explicitly via the module option "ac97_clock=41194".

    Joystick/MIDI ports are not supported by this driver.  If your
    motherboard has these devices, use the ns558 or snd-mpu401
    modules, respectively.

    The ac97_quirk option is used to enable/override the workaround
    for specific devices.  Some hardware have swapped output pins
    between Master and Headphone, or Surround.  The driver provides
    the auto-detection of known problematic devices, but some might
    be unknown or wrongly detected.  In such a case, pass the proper
    value with this option.

    The power-management is supported.

Also auch damit komm ich nach ausführlichem testen nicht weiter.
Ich bin schon fast soweit, dass ich behaupten würde mit der Hardware kann man kein 5.1 zum laufen bringen (zumindest noch nicht).
